Shelving Opening Before Remodel
Built-in Shelving After Remodel
Basement Bathroom Shelving
The photos in this section shows the before and after views of an unfinished basement remodel, which we installed a new half bathroom, and these pictures show built-in shelving unit that we built.

In this particular basement remodel, we had an issue with the vent line from the underground plumbing of the toilet. The placement of this vent line was going to be inside the open space of the bathroom, so we came up with the idea of closing in the vent line inside a corner wall area. You can see the white vent line in the before photo.

So we framed in the walls in the corner of the room, and left an open space for a shelving unit that I would build at a later date. And we finished the entire bathroom, except for the large hole in the wall where I need to come up with a good idea on a shelf insert.

I made a built-in shelf unit, but in doing so I decided to add a bit of detail. I did not want just a standed boring old box in the wall, and I had plenty of space to deal with. So I built a unit that had more depth, so we could display some larger items of decor, and I created symmetrically opposed 45 degree angled corners in the back of the unit, which gave this piece more detail and lines of architectural beauty. Finally, I finished each shelf with a edge trim for further detail, and completed a surround trim molding for the einter unit. This unit looks great and adds functional appeal.
