Pool Table Overhead Lighting
Pool Table Lighting
The photos in this section shows the result a completing a remodel of our unfinished basement. We installed a new pool table in the great room, and we had trouble with the limited ceiling height of being able to install a traditional three bulb hanging light. So, instead we found a two bulb hanging light, which made the chain pulls closer together and less of a resulting angle to get a higher mounting location.

Also, you can see haw we planned in our layout to have four recessed lights installed in the ceiling, one directly over each corner pocket of the pool table. The center hanging light is on a separate dimmer switch from the four corner recessed lights, which enables us to adjust the lighting levels for various conditions.

We first purchased a three dome light, and when we had that unit in the room we then realized that we did not have enough ceiling height to mount the light sufficiently above the surface of the pool table. With the three dome light, the chains attached to the light bar at a much wider point, and then to have the light at the correct height the chains were pulled to tight into the center. With a two dome unit, the connecting point of the light bar to the chains is much closer, which made hanging light much easier to the correct level above the pool table surface.

The surface of the pool table is at 30" above the floor. The bottom of the light is mounted 32.5" above the surface of the pool table, or 62.5" above the floor. The height of our ceiling is 87.5", which means the height of the light takes up 25" of space below the ceiling.
