Basement Bathroom Storage Access
The photos in this section shows the result a completing a remodel of our unfinished basement. We install a new half bathroom, and in order to reduce the amount of hallway space, we added two doors in the bathroom, on for entry and the other to access the storage and sump pump area at the back end of the house.

In making everything fit, we installed a typical 30 inch wide entry door, but the door to the storage area was smaller, at 24" wide, in order to allow for the toilet to be installed. The basement was pre-plumbed by the original builder, and we did not want to add cost by changing the location of the exising undergroud plumbing, so we comprimised with a smaller doorway into the storage area. It worked great for this limited access to a storage area.

This is a good tip in planning your space into a storage area. Standard doors are are 30" wide and 80" tall. In this case we used a 24" wide by 74" tall, because we were also restricted in available height. And in another storage access area, we used a 32" wide by 74" tall door, because of the available space for a door in that area.

The tip in this case is to use a standard sized door where possible, but if needed feel free to utilitze slightly different sized doors to make your layout work best.
