Dry Bar Cabinets and Countertops After Remodel
The photos in this section shows the before and after views of remodeling our basement. We purchased a home with an unfinished basement, and in this section of the basement, up against the stairway, we had planned to install a dry bar with cabinets, countertop and refrigerator.
In the before picture, you can see the area where the future dry bar was to be installed. You can see the framing of stairway was opened along the lower end to provide a more visually pleasing entry, and a future open handrail. The empty space under the stair would eventually become a new storage area, with built in lights and shelving. The open area behind the stairway was framed to add a door, and we installed two can recess lights to shine down on the future dry bar.
In the after picture, we purchase pre-fabricated cabinets, and we install base and wall mounted units. In choosing the right size cabinets, we carefully measured our available space, and we complete many hand drawings to determine the best overall layouts. We chose white cabinets, to go with the overall theme of the room, and stainless knobs to go with the stainless refrigerator. Also, I had to build a special base for the refrigerator to raise the height for the door to open over the carpet, and to have a common white baseboard area to pull the overall cabinets together.
The countertop is a special custom application that my wife and I completed, and a link to this article is below:
